GEISHA1974
is performance improvisational theater that confront the public with a non-conformist, androgynous character. He addresses the issue of differences, integration and sharing. The artist plays with auditor's feeling the time of a walk in a crowded street. As the public is invited to interact, they become a part of the performance. Indeed, the artist offers some " paper pleasures " that take form of origami cranes, a symbol of peace in Japan. These silences and poetic presents invoke questions about gifting and acceptance, and about human relations.

'LANDS OF SOUNDS'
Inspired by aboriginal music of Australia "Lands of sounds", a performance from artist Richard Breuil, invites the public to interact to compose and orchestrate a musical tune based on the rhythms and sounds of the didgeridoo. A timeless place and sensory environment is created to represent a different time space. This musical experience is an invitation to enjoy a time of relaxation, of meditation through the sound vibrations of the instrument.

INVISIBLE: LISTEN TO AN UNSEEN STATE [Working Title]

DESCRIPTION . ’… 96% of the American population suffers from chronic medical conditions which display no outward symptoms …’

INVISIBLE: LISTEN TO AN UNSEEN STATE [Working Title] is an integrated Performance Installation featuring an abstracted, multi-layered auditory
experience and the physical portrayal of the internal actuality. Extensively detailing the human existence of an invisible illness; a circular representation of
the unseen tangibles of which so many are intimately aware.

EXTERNAL [Working Title]

DESCRIPTION . EXTERNAL [Working Title] captures the incredible beauty of one such coastal town: clear-blue skies, warm-yellow sand, lush-green
trees, rolling-indigo waves. The assurance of the preferred vacation spot; luring us, promising us - that as you run into the sun, hardships melt away
with ease. Viewed in a setting of impossibility, reminding us of the unlikely attainability of true bliss.
Rachael Crawford Goolsby
Wilmington, NC

combines yoga, dance, massage, and art to live her life more fully. She is a dedicated Momma and wife and seeks to bring people of various backgrounds together for the sake of fun! Her choreographic ideas usually stem from inspiration in nature or another art-form, such as painting, film, literature and of course music! She enjoys the process of dancing for others to catch a glimpse of how another artist's mind works. Partnering and collaborations in general is her mode of choice, but digging deep solo is also very rewarding. Rachael is a new board member at Alban Elved and is pleased to be working with Karola Luttringhaus on Sarus Festival this year. She hopes that you enjoy your experience and extend it into a dialogue with the participating artists and/or with your friends. She believes art is worthy of your support; it's valuable because it enriches our lives in penetrating and unexpected ways.

About the Artist:
Cape Fear Dance Theatre is a physical theater and dance on film company based in Wilmington, NC producing films that screen locally for live performances, events, restaurants, movie theaters, and more to encourage the marriage between everydaylife and quality performing arts.

We aim to reach the local community in two ways: 1) By working collaboratively with cast and crew from all social, cultural, and socioeconomic walks of life and 2) By offering performing arts classes for all ages through the Wilmington School of Ballet and other local schools.  A performing arts education is important to our mission as we train the eye, stimulate the imagination, and condition the body.

By doing so, we find a quality asethetic and clear intention to acheive a sense of personal connectivity in our films. We approach our performance and film work through a humanistic lense while spotlighting the physicality of storytelling on film.

I am a life long proper musician from a family of proper musicians. My first itch for the surreal came in the form of a Dali exhibition in Zeebrugge, Belgium, at 15.
I studied art during college where I discovered Joseph Bueys and John Cage.

/+/+/+
I have been active locally since 2006, performing with the 910 Noise collective, curating shows for my own weekly live performance experimental series
(Behind The Garage @ Juggling Gypsy), booking shows since 2011 for Squidco, (an avant music record store / performance venue) and performing with any one
of my various projects. I currently have a weekly podcast/radio show on UNCW's Hawkstream internet radio station called Behind the Garage Radio dedicated to
experimental music. http://www.mixcloud.com/BTGbtgradio/

I was invited to curate a block of performances for the 2010 WE Festival here in the 910. I have been releasing my music on domestic and international experimental music labels for over a decade.

I currently sell avant garde jazz and sound art to customers the world over at the local record store, Squidco (squidco.com). I have run a download blog
dedicated to out of print releases in the deep underground of noise and experimental music for the past five years called The Static Fanatic, which

Ariel Schmidtke

Ariel Schmidtke was born on one of the numerous islands in Puget Sound. She became a gymnast at the age of three, complementing her training by climbing trees and fire escapes. She relocated to Bellingham at the age of eighteen to study English with thoughts of writing stories and drawing little illustrations. Her academic career was slightly disrupted when walking through an alley near the downtown area she discovered a door with “circus” scribbled across it. Yana Schnitzler/human kinetics movement arts
New York City, NY
www.humankinetics.org

As the Artistic Director of her company, human kinetics movement arts, she creates site-specific movement installations blending dance and the visual arts. “My goal is to transform the environment in such a way that the audience becomes sensitized to new possibilities of perception and meaning. Fascinated by fabric, my primary working principle is to explore the different aspects of this material in relation to the human body. As a result I create wearable ‘fabric structures’ that, in their sculptural character, expose the hidden poetry of public spaces.”

THIS WEEK IN NEW YORK calls her work "… beautifully nuanced … a bravura performance… an extraordinary, mesmerizing dance…". NICE MATIN, France, says “…an original performance, a moment of grace…” and BILD ZEITUNG, Germany, states “pure aesthetics”.

Founded in 2002, human kinetics movement arts has performed at numerous festivals, museums and galleries throughout Europe and the US (Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC; BMW Gala Event, Munich; Hamburg Art Week, Germany; Citibank, NYC; Opera Plage, Nice, France; Concorso D’Eleganza, Italy; World Trade Center/Ground Zero, NYC; Love ‘n Courage Benefit at The National Arts Club, NYC; among others) and has received funding support from Bossak/Heilbron Charitable Foundation, German General Consulate, Friends of Hudson River Park as well as corporate support from Jana Water and Citibank.
She has been a part of the SARUS Festival every year since its inception.

Born and raised in former East Germany, Yana lives and works in New York City.

Andi Steele

Artist Statement
Using linear materials, I divide existing spaces, blocking areas and creating new places to enter. I
am interested in the reaction and response of the individual when they are confronted with
change, presented with the unexpected. When they encounter something that shifts perception of
their surroundings, challenging their place within that environment.
For Caught Up, I will be creating a monofilament expanse that will act both as a spatial challenge
to the viewers and a stage for the performance.

Bio
Andi Steele is a sculptor producing site-specific installations and large scale sculptures. She is
interested in the manipulation of space to challenge people’s perceptions and activate their
interaction with her work, and the larger environment. Her primary materials are monofilament
fishing line and steel.
Andi exhibits her site-specific installations and sculptures nationally. Her most recent works
include BURST, currently on exhibit in Charlotte, NC and Emante in York, PA, which was
reviewed in Sculpture Magazine.
Andi received her BFA from the University of South Carolina in 1994, participated in the Core
Fellowship Program at Penland School of Crafts (1998-99), and received her MFA in sculpture
from the University of Georgia in 2004. She lives in Wilmington, NC where she is an associate

Andie Trombetta
Wilmington, NC
www.TrombettaDesigns.com
www.Bella-Thread.com
Artist Statement
The motivation for my work is ancient and contemporary uses of fabric, and performance. Fabric
is a material long associated with human beings, from protective garments to fashion statements.
Dance, like fabric, has the ability to convey universal messages, to transform meaning and to
transcend the mundane. I choose to take cloth and dance out of a utilitarian context and legitimize
their uses as fine art media and source for mysterious expression.
Contemporary Dance Technique has become a major part of my creative process and practice,
exploring innovative choreography and uniquely structured improvisations. Using fabric and
contemporary dance allows me the total creative freedom to produce conceptual and bodyoriented
work that reflects my connections, observations and inevitable transitions of the human
condition.
Photography and video provide powerful residue of the site-specific pieces that I produce. I thrive
off of collaboration with other installation artists, sculptors and dancers, allowing me to create
unique living sculpture and site-specific experiences for any witness to encounter.

Bio
Andrea (AKA Andie) Trombetta is a fabric designer and performance artist, exploring both
contemporary and ancient uses of textiles, dance and sculpture. Andrea lives in Athens, Georgia
where she produces custom pieces, along with exhibiting gallery and site specific performances.
She has recently launched a new collection called Bella-Thread; hand embellished custom
apparel in collaboration with LoveHawk, visionary artist and tattooist David Hale. Ms.Trombetta
received her MFA from the University of Georgia in Studio Art and Fabric Design in 2005. Andrea
is also the mother of sweet Isabella Rose.
Andrea Trombetta's most recent performance called SKYFALL, is a collaboration with installation
artist, Glen Kaufman, producing gallery performance with the use of contemporary dance and
costume design.
